Ruthie Anderson celebrated her 90th birthday this week in style as family members and longtime friends came from across the state and some out of state to attend the special Birthday Party which was held at the Atoka Choctaw Nation Community Center. All of Ruthie's nephews and nieces on the Anderson side and nephews on the Bacon side were in attendance as well as great nieces and nephews. Several of her cousins from the Isaac Billy Family also made the trek to Atoka for the special event. Her daughters, Kenni Lane and Kathy Anderson hosted the event along with son-in-law Rick Lane, grandsons Micah Lane from Colorado Springs, CO, Jedidiah Lane and wife Amy from Melissa, TX and great grandsons, Gavin and Ollie Lane. Two of Ruthie's special childhood friends Noel Powell and Edna Burleson were both on hand for the special occasion as well as a host of friends. Ruthie and Noel Powell have been friends since they were 7 years old and Edna Burleson since they were both around 5 years old. When someone has been your friend for over 80 years that is indeed a true friend. Our family appreciates everyone that took the time out of their busy schedules to be a part of our mother's special day as we celebrated her 90th birthday. We also appreciate Chief Gary Batton who sent our mother a 'Wisdom Quilt' celebrating her 90th birthday on behalf of the Choctaw Nation. We also appreciate the wonderful cards and thoughtful gifts that were given to her on her special day.
We also want to thank my mother's great nieces, Hannah (Bacon) Wood and Deidre (Bacon) Elrod who helped us decorate for the special occasion and friends Wendy and Robby Isom and Melissa Kindred who helped us with the event. Congratulations go out to Alissa (Kindred) Hardin as she has stepped up to be the Antlers High School Girls Basketball coach for the 2025-2026 season.
Wendy Isom enjoyed a nice breakfast this week at Stringtown School with her grandchildren as she attended Grandparents Day. Her grandchildren Fisher Tatum, Arrow Isom and Emery Hoover were all surprised when their MiMi showed up to eat breakfast with them. Kenni and Rick Lane enjoyed Grandparent's Day at Melissa ISD in Texas as they had lunch with their grandsons Gavin and Ollie Lane. We were glad to hear that Willa Mae Isom is feeling some better this week after taking another round of chemo last week. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and she continues to deal with medical issues.
