An Atoka Police Officer arrested a Texas man for actual physical control (APC) of a motor vehicle while under the influence after finding him slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle at a local gas station.
On Sunday night, September 21, Officer Shomo was fueling his patrol unit at the QuikTrip when he observed a silver Ford Eco Sport parked in the semi-truck entrance with its hazard lights on and the engine running. The driver, later identified as Kurtis Deen, was slumped over and appeared to be unconscious. Both passenger-side tires were flat.
Officer Christian Shomo detected a strong odor of alcohol from the vehicle as he approached to check on Deen. After multiple unsuccessful attempts to wake Deen, the officer opened the doors, and the odor intensified, with vomit on the ground near the driver's side.
