Atoka County Retired Educators met Thursday Oct.2,2025 for their monthly luncheon meeting at Truly Favorite Bakery. Meeting was called to order by President Linda Humphrey, flag salute by Don McGinty and prayer by Jo Ann King. Treasure report was given by Don McGinty with several new members being added. Minutes of September meeting were read and approved by Secretary Jo Ann King.
A presentation was given by Mike Cathy of McAlester, on The Jefferson Highway. He told of the many new signs for the Highway Route being put up, many right through the town of Atoka. Also 'Route 66' will be celebrating 100 years next year and many activities will be centered around that event.
Brenda Callahan Jones our Southeast District ORES Representative gave report on how for active and retired teachers to get on the TRS Portal for information and updates on insurance and ect. Lindel Fields is now our actin State School Superintendent.
