October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States and many other countries. In the early 2000s, October was designated to honor those affected by the disease and to emphasize the importance of regular screenings and education for better outcomes. Lane and Crystal have several people fighting this disease and need our prayers.
Heads up all you men… Men’s Breast Cancer Awareness Week is this week, October 17–23. Although breast cancer is much more common in women, it also affects men. According to the American Cancer Society, about 2,800 men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2025, and about 510 are expected to die from the disease. Lack of awareness and the stigma of a man having breast cancer can be barriers to men obtaining detection and care for the disease.
Lane Public School will begin Fall Break this week on Wednesday, October 15. The break is scheduled for the 15th through the 17th. Classes will resume on Monday, October 20th.
