Oklahoma's New Laws: A November 1st Shake-Up in Women's Rights, Education, and More

Oklahomans will be waking up to a significant legislative overhaul, as a wave of new laws passed during the 2025 legislative session officially takes effect. These changes touch on critical aspects of daily life, from healthcare and education to personal finance and criminal justice, reflecting the state's conservative policy priorities.

The sweeping changes are set to impact women's healthcare access, redefine the landscape of public education, adjust tax benefits, and introduce new measures for law enforcement. Women's Rights & Healthcare

New measures are in place regarding abortion-related activities and state funding as the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) begins enforcing new rules. These rules, mandated by Governor Kevin Stitt's Executive Order 2025-16, require the OHCA to terminate or refuse to renew SoonerCare (Medicaid) contracts with any providers who perform, refer for, or are affiliated with impermissible abortion-related services. Providers are now required to submit an attestation confirming their compliance with these restrictions.
