The students of Lane Public School recently collected a phenomenal 1,788 canned and boxed goods for local distribution, marking a record year for the annual community service project. The idea for the massive food drive was born from a current events discussion in the 8th grade history class, which plans to continue the drive each year. The collected items will be distributed within the school district with the help of local churches. A special commendation goes to Mrs. Nutt, the teacher who oversaw the drive, and the Kindergarten class, which won the intergrade competition with a whopping 261 items collected.
