A Texas woman was arrested in the early hours of New Year’s Day after an Atoka Police Officer discovered she was traveling in the opposite direction of her destination with a suspended license and a THC vape.
At approximately 1:38 A.M. on January 1, 2026, an Atoka Police Sergeant patrolling near US-69 and Shady Lane clocked a vehicle traveling 68-mph in a 55-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop near Virginia Street and identified the driver as Amanda Perez of Sherman, Texas.
Perez provided an expired license and admitted she did not have vehicle insurance. When the officer noted a strong odor of marijuana, Perez claimed it was from 'earlier.'
