The Stringtown Police Department has released further details regarding the passenger who fled into the woods during a traffic stop on State Highway 43E. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Jerry Lee Benjamin of Indianola, remains at large following a multiagency search of Stringtown Hill.
In a social media update, the department noted the unusual circumstances of the escape: Benjamin handed his official Oklahoma Identification Card to the officer just moments before deciding to run. Authorities confirmed that Benjamin is a fugitive from justice with multiple felony and misdemeanor warrants currently active out of Pittsburg County.
