Caney Man Scuffles with Atoka Police

A Monday morning welfare check resulted in the arrest of a Caney man after he allegedly assaulted a police officer and resisted efforts to be taken into custody.

At approximately 1:22 A.M. on January 12, 2026, Atoka Police Officers Cort Humphrey and Christian Shomo, along with Sgt. Cody Poe, were dispatched to a residence on North Pine Street following reports that a man had possibly overdosed. After a search of two locations, officers and Atoka County EMS located the man, Harley Hensley of Caney, at a residence on West Court Street.

According to the police affidavit, Hensley was initially unresponsive but eventually woke up and denied having overdosed. After stepping outside to speak with his mother, Hensley reportedly became irate, shouting at officers and accusing family members of lying about his condition.
