Lane Farms had three cows that didn't get the memo this past week to not skate on the pond. Rancher, Rick Lane honed his ice fishing skills as he took his chainsaw and cut a path through the ice to the cows where he was finally able to pull them out. Submitted photo

This week our Daisy community is once again saddened as former resident and friend, Dennis Gabbart passed away.

Dennis was raised in Daisy and went to school at Stringtown and graduated from Atoka. Dennis was an outstanding basketball player for the Atoka Wampus Cats and also received several awards and accolades in 4-H during his Elementary. Jr. High and High School vears While Dennis was in high school he and I were both named Atoka County Outstanding 4- H Hall of Fame Students and then we each went on to represent Oklahoma in Washington DC through the 4-H Citizenship Leadership Conference.

Dennis had lived in Fort Walton Beach, Florida for the last few years until just recently moving back to the Atoka area.
