A report of a sparking flatbed truck traveling down Highway 69 led to the arrest of a driver on multiple charges in the early hours of February 5.
Deputy Matthew Clay of the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 1:22 a.m. dispatch regarding a reckless vehicle traveling southbound. The reporting party stated the truck was failing to maintain its lane and was throwing sparks from the passenger side.
Upon locating the vehicle, Deputy Clay observed that both passenger-side tires were missing, leaving the truck to travel on its metal wheels at approximately 25 miles per hour. The driver, identified as Oliver Hamby, eventually pulled over north of Dairy Lane after initially failing to yield to emergency lights.
