Traffic Stop for Wrong-Way Driving Leads to Meth and DUI Charges

A 4 a.m. patrol on January 30 led to the arrest of a man after he was spotted facing the wrong direction in the southbound lanes of US-Highway 69/75.

Officer Cort Humphrey of the Atoka Police Department reported observing a black Ford Focus in front of the Super 8 motel, attempting to cross the grass median from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes. After initiating a traffic stop in the Pilot parking lot, Officer Humphrey noted several equipment defects on the vehicle, including a broken taillight and headlight.

The driver, identified as Roy Sinks, presented an Oklahoma driver's license that had been expired since September 2025. According to the police report, Sinks allegedly attempted to put the vehicle in drive and leave the scene while Master Patrolman Christian Shomo and Cheyenne Gilbert were arriving to assist.
