Local Law Enforcement Swaps Badges for Aprons to Support Special Olympics
The 'Tip-a-Cop' team gathers at the Feed Bin in Caney after a record-breaking night. Members of the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office, Caney Police Department, and Caney Fire Department teamed up with staff and the community to raise over $5,000 for the Special Olympics. (Submitted photo)

The communities of Atoka County recently saw a different kind of public service as local law enforcement and first responders traded their patrol gear for aprons.

The annual 'Tip-a-Cop' event brought several agencies together at local favorites, all with one goal in mind, raising money for the Special Olympics.

Over in Atoka, things were buzzing at Cazadorez Mexican Restaurant and Chili’s. Officers from the Atoka Police Department, Tushka Police Department, and the Choctaw Lighthouse Police were busy waiting tables and chatting with diners to collect donations. While we’re still waiting on the final numbers from those two spots, the energy was high and the support was clear.
