During the annual meeting between rural fire departments and county officials last Tuesday, County Clerk Christie Henry provided an update on the departments' financial health while reinforcing purchasing protocols required by state auditors.

Henry reported that the county's rural fire departments are in a strong financial position, with a total of $1.7 million between the 14 departments, currently on hand. She noted the high quality of the county’s current equipment, stating that the departments are well-resourced compared to previous years when funding was less consistent.

In addition to the financial update, Henry introduced Jamie Humphrey as the new point of contact for the departments. Humphrey was hired following the retirement of Gayla, and Henry thanked the departments for the support and flowers they sent to Gayla upon her departure.
