The Caney Cougars secured a 5-0 victory over the Soper Bears on Monday, extending a dominant winning streak against their rivals. The win marks the sixth consecutive time Caney has defeated Soper in their recent meetings.
With the win, Caney improved its season record to 7-4. The Cougars' pitching was a key factor in the shutout, keeping the Bears off the scoreboard for the duration of the game. Despite the loss, it was a competitive outing for Soper, who now holds a 3-4 record for the season.
Both teams will have a short break before returning to action in early April. Soper is scheduled to travel to Buffalo Valley on April 2. Caney will move on to face Mill Creek on April 3, with the first pitch set for 10:00 a.m.
