Extreme weather
Extreme weather swept through the region over the weekend, bringing destructive hail, flash flooding, and multiple reports of rotation. On Saturday, April 25, confirmed tornadoes were reported on the ground in several nearby communities, including Hickory, Reagan, Kiowa, and Roff, as part of a multi-day storm sequence that produced significant damage across the Southern Plains. Residents faced life-threatening conditions from supercells that generated intense winds and destructive hail measuring up to three inches. While a violent EF-4 tornado devastated homes in north-central Oklahoma earlier in the week, the weekend system continued the threat with PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) warnings and confirmed touchdowns. Emergency responders and storm spotters tracked the severe weather as it pushed through the county, leaving a trail of debris and flooding in its wake. Photo credit Stormy Donihoo
