A new era of early literacy has arrived in Atoka County. On Friday, local leaders and community partners gathered at QuikTrip to celebrate the official launch of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the United Way of South-Central Oklahoma, the Southern Oklahoma Library System, and QuikTrip, which has stepped in as a primary funding partner to ensure the program is available to every child in the county.

'We’re really excited to be a part of this program,' said Curtis Dake, manager of the Atoka QuikTrip. 'We are glad that we’re able to give back to the community in this way.'
