A friendly social media rivalry turned up the heat at Atoka Motorsports Park during the June points race, as local drivers placed cash bounties on top competitors, resulting in high-stakes drama on the track.
The bounty hunt began on Facebook after Llano, Texas racer Derek Hohmann commented that he was planning on taking home the win. Taking the friendly 'trash talk' as a challenge, John Pate placed a $50 bounty on Hohmann for the Money race, offering a cash prize to anyone who could defeat him.
The bounty went unclaimed, however, as Hohmann dominated the weekend, sweeping both the Pro 1 Car Trophy race and the Pro 1 Car Money race, holding off Atoka’s Jimmie Fletcher in the Money final.
