A District 1 county vehicle and transport trailer were destroyed by fire Tuesday afternoon on State Highway 43 East.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, located east of Stringtown near the area known locally as 'the wall,' shortly after 3:00 PM. Upon arrival, responders found an Atoka County District 1 pickup truck and a trailer heavily engulfed in flames.
The truck and trailer were transporting a Bobcat dirt-moving vehicle at the time the fire began. The county employee operating the truck was able to safely exit the burning transport vehicle, enter the Bobcat, and drive it off the trailer to remove it from the path of the fire.
