Mississippi Driver Facing DUI, Drug Charges After 87-MPH Highway Stop

A Mississippi man faces multiple misdemeanor drug and alcohol allegations after an Atoka police officer clocked his pickup truck traveling more than 30 mph over the speed limit.

According to formal charges filed by the district attorney’s office, an Atoka police officer was stationed on U.S. Highway 69 just south of Ruth Avenue at approximately 6:15 PM on July 11, 2025, following a phoned-in report regarding an erratic driver.

The officer observed a white Ford F-150 with Mississippi tags traveling northbound at a high rate of speed, with radar confirming the vehicle was moving at 87 mph in a 55-mph zone.
