Tree Line Hiding Spot Leads to Misdemeanor Charges

A Texas man faces misdemeanor drug allegations after an Atoka County Sheriff's deputy reportedly discovered him hidden in a tree line near his disabled vehicle.

According to the affidavit, Deputy G. Colley responded to a dispatcher's call at approximately 8:45 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, regarding a suspicious person at the intersection of Highway 69 and Highway 131. A caller had reported an older green Mercedes parked on the shoulder with its hood raised, noting that the driver had ducked into the vehicle to hide when spotted.

Upon arrival, Deputy Colley located the 2000 green Mercedes with Texas tags but initially found the area empty. Moments later, the deputy observed a man, later identified as Jake Glossup, sitting in a chair inside the tree line about 20 feet southwest of the vehicle with a backpack on his lap. Glossup placed the backpack on the ground and walked out to meet the deputy.
