Loaded Handgun and Narcotics Recovered

A routine stop for an expired license plate ended with a loaded handgun and cocaine seized from a driver who admitted to a long history of felony arrests.

Oklahoma State Highway Patrol Trooper Trent Mixon pulled over a white pickup truck near the intersection of Highway 69 and 9th Street in Atoka on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The driver, Philip Santoyo, handed over a driver's license but could not provide proof of insurance.

Once Santoyo was seated in the patrol unit, the trooper discovered the license was revoked. When asked if the truck contained any weapons, Santoyo admitted there was a firearm inside. The trooper then asked if he had ever been arrested for a felony before, prompting Santoyo to reply, 'Lots.'
