A routine enforcement action for speeding inside McGee Creek State Park led to misdemeanor drug charges after a park ranger discovered methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and learned the driver had provided a false identity.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Lt. Corwin Ridgway, an Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department Park Ranger, the incident occurred around 9:36 p.m. on August 7. Lt. Ridgway observed a dark-colored vehicle traveling eastbound on McGee Creek Lake Road at 37 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. A registration check revealed the vehicle's Texas tag had expired in May 2026.
Lt. Ridgway initiated contact near the intersection of McGee Creek Lake Road and Old Farris Road. The driver, later identified as Ray Knighten, claimed he did not have his license and provided officers with the name and date of his brother.
