In a heart-stopping rivalry clash that lived up to its historic billing, the Atoka Wampus Cats came up just one point short Friday night, falling 35-34 to the Coalgate Wildcats in the 114th Boggy Bottom Bowl.
The wild, back-and-forth contest featured explosive scoring, late-game drama and a decisive blocked extra point in the final two minutes. The Wampus Cats have a bye this week and will start Class 2AII District 4 play on Sept. 25 at Beggs with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
