Emergency responders and local agencies unite near Coal Creek Road as firefighters battle a massive wildfire that swept across 727 acres in Atoka County. Driven by windy conditions, the rapid northwestward spread toward Lehigh prompted precautionary evacuation orders for residents along Coal Creek Road, Tower Road, and Humphrey Road. More than 15 area fire departments, supported by the Oklahoma Forestry Service, local law enforcement personnel, and paramedics, worked well into the evening hours to establish containment lines and protect nearby structures, eventually allowiang officials to safely lift the evacuation notices.
