Due to changes enacted by the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE), Atoka Public Schools announced that its third meal offering will now be restricted to students enrolled in a specific after-school program, effective Oct. 1.
The district previously utilized the Expanded Learning Time component of the CACFP At-Risk Third Meal Program to provide an additional daily meal to local students. OSDE ended that component on Sept. 30.
District administration noted that Child Nutrition staff explored alternative options to maintain full coverage, but state department regulations now dictate that the third meal may only be served to students participating in the 21st Century After-School Program at Atoka Elementary School.
