Lady Wampus Cats Roll Through Regionals, Advance to Super Regionals

The Atoka Lady Wampus Cats are headed to an Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class 3A Super Regional Tournament after putting together a dominant performance on the road at the Kansas, OK Regional Tournament Sept. 29-30.

Atoka opened the regional tournament with an 11-0 shutout of Okmulgee/ Wilson (Henryetta) before blanking host Kansas 10-0 and 4-0 in the championship game to claim the regional title and advance to the next round of the postseason.

The Lady Cats will face a familiar opponent in Kingston in a best-of-three Super Regional series Thursday, Oct. 8, on the road. The first two games are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m., with an if-necessary third game set for noon Friday, Oct. 9. The winner of the series will advance to the OSSAA Class 3A State Tournament, scheduled for Oct. 15-17 at Firelake Ballfields in Shawnee.
