Three Arrested on Drug, Paraphernalia Charges Following Highway 69/75 Stop

A late-night traffic stop on Highway 69/75 led to misdemeanor drug charges for three men late last month after Atoka County Sheriff’s deputies discovered marijuana, pipes, and grinding equipment during a vehicle search.

Deputy Corwin Ridgway of the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office arrested the driver, Jesus Trejo, along with passengers Jose Lopez and Jefferson Cordova, at approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 28 near the intersection of Highway 69/75 and Highway 3.

According to law enforcement affidavits, Ridgway initiated the traffic stop after observing a northbound black GMC pickup traveling 56 mph in a posted 45 mph speed zone. Upon contacting the driver, Trejo presented a passport from Mexico and indicated he did not speak English, prompting the deputy to utilize a translation application on his mobile device to communicate.
