Several members from the Atoka-Coal Baptist Association enjoyed a nice outing last week as we held our April luncheon at Huck's Catfish in Denison.
There were 18 of us from the association that made the trek to Denison. The group all enjoyed an expensive cupcake from the famous 'Nothing Bundt Cakes' afterwards as a special treat.
The group all enjoyed a nice meal and visiting. Those attending from McGee Valley were Liz Page, Nettie Hensley, Gladys Kelly, Edna Burleson, Ruthie Anderson, Imogene Bacon, and Kathy Anderson.
Gwen Walker and Judy Wilson attended from Southside along with several others from Coalgate, Blackjack, and Stringtown Baptist Church.
We really appreciate Atoka-Coal Baptist Association Director, Randy Hurt, and First Baptist Church pastor Jim Bob Lewis organizing the event and Russell Wright for driving the bus. We also appreciate Liz Page for coordinating the event.
We want to remind all Atoka-Coal Baptist Association seniors that our May luncheon will be held at Southside Baptist Church on May 15th. Bring a covered dish of your choice and come enjoy a nice meal and a time of visiting. For more information contact Liz Page or Atoka-Coal Baptist Association Director, Randy Hurt.
This past weekend marked the 18th year the Lane family participated in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
This year dad Rick, son Micah and daughter-in-law, Hannah all opted for the half- marathon. My niece Hannah set a new personal best record.
Rick's friend, Dan Little of Madill who holds the record as the oldest person to compete in a World Marathon Challenge once again ran the marathon.
Dan recently ran the 777 Great World Race which is seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
Dan started the 777 Great World Race in Wolf Fang, Antarctica, then Cape Town, Africa, the third marathon was in Perth, Australia, then Istanbul, Turkey and on to Asia for the fourth location and Europe for the fifth marathon.
The sixth marathon took Dan all the way to Cartagena, South America and finally wrapped up the seventh worldly adventure marathon in Miami, Florida. Again, these seven marathons are all accomplished in 7 days. Needless to say, Dan Little is a legend in the Marathon world.
We want to remind all the retired Atoka County educators that our May Retired Educators meeting will be this Thursday, May 1st at El Adobe at 11:30 A.M. This will be the last meeting until August.
Congratulations go out to our up-and-coming local talent, Davey Wood, Kyree Bacon and River Hoover.
River, Davey and Kyree all made Daisy proud as they competed in the Stringtown School Talent Show last week. River performed a dance routine for her talent competition. Davey captured 1st place in the singing competition as he sang, “My Jesus.” Kyree also placed first as she used sign language for her talent competition.
Please continue to keep Leebert Tramble in your thoughts and prayers during his recovery.
