Highway 69 Stop Ends in Suspended License Arrest

An Atoka woman was arrested on Sunday, April 20th, 2025, after a traffic stop on Highway 69 near Wallace Lane revealed a defective tag light and subsequently, that she was driving with a suspended license, according to a police report filed by Officer Russell O'Neal of the Atoka Police Department.

Upon approaching the driver's side window, Officer O'Neal identified himself to the driver, later identified as Sidney Lowe, and explained the reason for the stop.

A male passenger was also present in the vehicle. When asked for her driver's license and proof of insurance, Lowe informed the officer that her license was suspended and provided an identification card instead.

Officer O'Neal returned to his patrol unit to check Lowe's information through Atoka County Dispatch, which confirmed that her license had been suspended since 2023. Officer Grady Blackwood of the Atoka Police Department arrived on the scene shortly thereafter to provide assistance.

Officer O'Neal then returned to Lowe's vehicle and asked her to exit, which she did. He informed Lowe that she was under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while suspended, placed her in handcuffs, and secured her in the back of his patrol unit.

Lowe was subsequently transported to the Atoka County Jail for booking. Officer Blackwood remained at the scene to await a wrecker to impound the vehicle.
