A shooting disrupted Saturday night’s rodeo festivities in Atoka, though fortunately no injuries were reported.
According to the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office, Clint Vickers was involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot during the event. Vickers then left the scene as a passenger in a vehicle, firing a gun back toward the victim still in the parking lot.
After fleeing the scene, Vickers reportedly jumped from the moving vehicle, sustaining minor injuries, including scrapes to his face. Following an extensive search, law enforcement officers recovered the firearm inside the vehicle. Charges against Vickers are pending.
Atoka County Sheriff Kody Simpson emphasized the dangers of mixing alcohol and firearms, saying, “Drinking and firearms don’t mix. If you’re going to drink, do it safely and responsibly.” Simpson also praised the rodeo staff for their cooperation, noting that Vickers has been formally trespassed from the property.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
