A routine traffic stop early Monday morning in Atoka led to the arrest of a Red Oak man who was found to be driving without a valid license.
According to a report by Patrolman Grady Blackwood of the Atoka Police Department, the incident occurred around 3:44 a.m. on April 28. Officer Blackwood was patrolling near South Mississippi Avenue and Chicken Fight Road when he observed a white Chevy Express van, bearing Texas plates, make a lane change without signaling.
The officer initiated a traffic stop near Rustin Concrete, and the vehicle pulled over without issue. The driver, later identified as Oscar Adan Sac Reyes of Red Oak, Oklahoma, was unable to produce a valid driver’s license and instead handed over an identification card from another country.
Officer Blackwood noted a language barrier during the stop and later learned that a female passenger in the vehicle did possess a valid California driver’s license. The passenger was reportedly unaware that Reyes was unlicensed.
Reyes was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Atoka County Jail. The vehicle was released to the licensed passenger at the scene. Reyes later bonded out.
He is being charged through the Atoka Municipal Court with operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, failure to signal, and improper tag display.
