An abrupt lane change on Highway 69 in Atoka led to the arrest of a Texas man Sunday morning after officers discovered he had no valid driver’s license.
According to a report from Officer Christian Shomo of the Atoka Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:57 a.m. on April 27. Officer Shomo was traveling southbound near C Street when he observed a white Volkswagen sedan bearing Texas tags abruptly cut off another vehicle without signaling, nearly causing a collision.
Officer Shomo initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Conrado Hernandez-Herrera. When asked for his license, Hernandez-Herrera stated he did not have one and instead produced a Mexican passport.
A records check through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) confirmed Hernandez- Herrera had never been issued a valid driver’s license. He was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Atoka County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and improper lane change.
