Stringtown News

Hello everyone! Can you believe that May is half over? And schools are out for the summer or soon will be? Time is flying by!

How about celebrating some holidays? Try these: May 15th: National Hamburger Week, National Chocolate Chip Day (Could we have those in some cookies, please?), and Bring Flowers to Someone Day May 16th: National BBQ Day, Drawing Day, and National Sea Monkey Day May 17th: National Cherry Cobbler Day, National Pack Rat Day, and National Walnut Day Last week, the men of Stringtown got together for breakfast. There was a good group in attendance. Loyd Thompson spoke about leaving behind 'Spiritual Wealth'. Bro Loyd, thank you for your message!

Sunday morning found Beth and Ray at church in Edmond with her Uncle Verland and Aunt Patty. It's always great to visit with them and go to their church! And, Aunt Patty has a birthday coming up this week! Happy Birthday!

Sunday morning at Stringtown FBC was busy! First off, Valieda Elrod celebrated a birthday. Happy Birthday!

As Sunday was Mother's Day, several mothers were recognized during the service. The youngest Mother was Debra Bray. The oldest Mother in attendance was Lil Chaffin.

Megan Moore had the most children present (8), and the most children! Debra Patton had the most grandchildren present (3), and the most grandchildren (24)! Congratulations to these moms!

Bro Scott preached a message from Proverbs 31. This was a Mother's Day message that expounded on the characteristics of an excellent wife. He expanded the message to include all women who seek to reflect God's wisdom.

In the Ladies' Class, the study of Revelation continued. They were missing a few ladies Sunday but had a good study!

If you're doing Secret Sister, are you having fun? There's a saying, 'It's better to give than to receive.' Beth finds it's a bunch of fun to give! To see (or hear about) how a gift has blessed another person is amazing. This could apply to other instances rather than just Secret Sister. Try it! It'll be rewarding!

Sunday night was Baccalaureate in Stringtown. Then graduation on Monday! These kids are now ready for a new, exciting chapter of their lives. Maybe working in a trade is next. Or trade school. Or traditional college. Or travel. Or working to save up for something special. Whatever the next step for them will be, we can pray for them! And we can pray that they make good choices.

Since summer is almost here, KBA Camp is coming up! June 16th - 20th is camp week! Remember to pray for camp. But, can you help in other ways? Scholarships for kids? Food? Sponsors? Pray for God's leadership and guidance for your part.

There are other needs for church programs. Call Denise at the church office for more information.

Beth and Ray were at the Big 12 tournament last week. There were a lot of great softball! Beth sold tickets, helped people find those pesky digital tickets, etc. Texas Tech took the win over Arizona in the championship game on Saturday with a score of 4-0. Congratulations to all the teams in attendance.

Congratulations to Shelli Ginden on her graduation from RN school last week. Great job Shelli!

Tony Potts, superintendent of Stringtown Schools, is officially retiring! His retirement party was held on Tuesday. Beth doesn't have info but will try to get more information soon! Congratulations, Tony!
