Woman Arrested for Shoplifting at Atoka Walmart

An Atoka woman was arrested for petit larceny on Sunday evening after police responded to a report of shoplifting at the Walmart located at 1983 S. Mississippi Ave.

According to a report by Sgt. Cody Poe of the Atoka Police Department, officers were dispatched to the store at approximately 6:58 PM after a Walmart Asset Protection Investigator (API) reported that two females had taken items and were still on the property.

Upon arrival, Sgt. Poe located the described vehicle and then made contact with the API at the front of the store. The API identified the two female suspects as they were exiting the building, with another Walmart employee following them. Sgt. Poe asked the two women to stop, and they complied. The API then requested that they retrieve the items they had placed in bags in their vehicle.

One of the females, identified as Kelsey Thomas, walked to a Jeep and retrieved multiple Walmart bags. She brought the bags back inside, and the group proceeded to the API office to review security footage of the incident.

Sgt. Poe reviewed the video and reportedly observed Kelsey Thomas placing a total of five items into a bag without scanning them at the checkout. The video then showed her paying for other scanned items and leaving the store with the bags containing the unpaid merchandise.

The stolen items were identified as a bra ($18.00), two NB tie-front shirts ($8.98 each), a pair of NB miter leggings ($9.98), and an NB rib cami ($2.98), with a total value of $48.92 before taxes.

Kelsey Thomas was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Atoka County Jail, where she was booked in for petit larceny without incident.
