A local man was arrested on two counts of Assault and Battery on a Peace Officer following a disturbance at a residence on West 13th Street on Sunday evening.
According to a report by Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Officer Shelby Milam, she and Officer Shields were requested to the residence to speak with a juvenile. While there, an off-duty deputy mentioned that his father-in-law was en route and might cause issues.
The report states that shortly after, a black Dodge pickup truck arrived at the residence, yielding at the stop sign at Greathouse Drive and 13th Street. However, as the truck proceeded through the intersection and into the driveway, the driver allegedly squealed the tires and accelerated, causing the pickup to slide sideways on the gravel, nearly hitting a parked vehicle.
The driver, identified as Robert Dillman, exited his truck reportedly yelling and swinging his arms, appearing very agitated. Officer Milam stated that Dillman walked directly towards her, and she had to place her hand on his chest to stop him. Dillman then allegedly began yelling at the officers to shoot him multiple times before backing up and punching himself in the face. He then aggressively pointed at the off-duty deputy and tried to walk through the officers, believed to be going after the deputy.
Officer Milam attempted to stop Dillman, who then allegedly grabbed her left hand. After letting go, Dillman continued to punch himself and yell at the officers to shoot him. He reportedly refused to speak with the officers.
The report further states that Dillman then rushed the officers, attempting to forcefully push past them, again believed to be targeting the off-duty deputy. Officers Milam and Shields gained control of Dillman's left arm. During the struggle, Dillman allegedly grabbed Officer Milam's right hand and tried to pull it off her shirt.
Once officers were able to bring Dillman to the ground, he allegedly tucked both arms under his chest, preventing them from regaining control. Due to Dillman's aggressive behavior and the unknown possibility of weapons, Officer Milam unholstered her Taser and deployed it, striking Dillman in the back and drive-stunning his left hamstring. Dillman then reportedly surrendered his arms and was placed in hand restraints.
After being evaluated by EMS and emergency room staff, Robert Dillman was transported to the Atoka County Jail and booked on two counts of Assault and Battery on a Peace Officer.
