Mr. Potts started his career in August 1981, teaching and coaching girls’ basketball. The following year, he moved from girls' basketball to boys' basketball in October. He coached the boys to backto back State Championships in 1983 and 1984. He also coached the boys to a State Championship title in Baseball in the spring of 1983. Mr. Potts started his administrative career as Assistant Principal in 1990 and was H.S. Principal from 1992 to 2001. In the fall of 2001, Mr. Potts became the Superintendent at Pittsburg Public Schools and worked at Pittsburg for nine years. In 2010 – 2011, he returned to Stringtown as Superintendent until his retirement on June 30, 2025. During his 44-year career, he served on various state boards such as the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA), Organization of Rural Oklahoma Schools (OROS), and Oklahoma Schools Assurance Group (OSAG). Mr. Potts served as President of each organization during his term. OROS represents over 400 school districts. In 2024, OROS presented Mr. Potts with the Pioneer Award for his dedication to Oklahoma's Public Schools. Mr. Potts had a great career in teaching, coaching, and administrative career for 44 years. He served the students and community of Stringtown Public Schools for 35 years. Mr. Potts is pictured with his wife, Ronny.
