On May 13, 2025, a man was arrested in Atoka for driving with a withdrawn license and possession of marijuana, with an additional charge for attempting to bring contraband into the jail.
According to a police report, at approximately 9:09 PM, Sergeant Cody Poe observed a white SUV traveling north on US 69 near Jones Rd. with an unilluminated license plate.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Elijah Woods, Sergeant Poe detected the odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Woods presented a Missouri identification card but stated he was driving to Missouri to update his license. He admitted to possessing a marijuana cigarette in his backpack.
A probable cause search of the backpack confirmed the presence of a marijuana cigarette. A check of Woods' license status revealed it had expired in February 2022 and was actively withdrawn as of January 2023.
Woods was arrested for possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. He was transported to the Atoka County Jail. Before entering the jail, Woods admitted to having more marijuana on his person, which was retrieved by detention staff.
Woods was booked into the Atoka County Jail without incident, facing charges related to the incident.
