Atoka County Jail is launching a new inmate tablet program through a partnership with City Tele-Coin Company, which has also secured the facility’s commissary and communications contracts. This initiative aims to enhance inmate access to digital services while generating revenue for the jail.
The tablets, designed specifically for correctional environments, allow inmates to make phone and video calls, send text messages, read eBooks, watch movies, play games, and place commissary orders.
While some features, such as educational content and legal resources, are free, others come with associated costs. For example, inmates may be charged for movie rentals, game access, and certain communication services. These fees are typically deducted from inmate accounts. Inmates must pay to watch movies or play games for set amounts of time.
The program is currently being tested at the jail and may expand if successful. Tablet usage is supervised by jail staff and can be restricted or limited in various ways, depending on behavior or policy. All activity on the devices is monitored to ensure compliance with facility rules. Any damage to the devices will be the responsibility of the inmate.
