Hello. How are you? Hoping for great days for all reading this! Here are some upcoming Holidays to celebrate! Which ones do YOU like?
June 12th: National Peanut Butter Cookie Day (Roy!), Superman Day, Democracy Day June13th: World Softball Day (Woohoo!), National Weed Your Garden Day, and Kitchen Klutzes of America Day June 14th: Flag Day, Army Birthday, and National Strawberry Shortcake Day June 15th: Father's Day and National Electricity Day Hmmmm... hasn't the weather been weird lately? Beth doesn't remember this much rain during June before! Their ponds are certainly full. Atoka Lake is really high too. Ray had really tall grass to mow! Beth hopes each of you stayed safe and dry during the recent storms! Wasn't the lightning show beautiful Sunday night? Beth and Ray watched it from the porch. God sure makes beautiful fireworks!
Beth and Ray have been at the Women's College World Series recently. It was a great tournament! There were some surprises for some people. But it was a safe tournament with no injuries. That's really the most important thing!
There's a built-in rain day... just in case games must be postponed. However, that day was a free day! One game in the Championship Round had a delayed start, but things were not further delayed. The series DID go to to a third game (the 'if' game) where Texas beat Texas Tech for the Championship.
Now, Ray's a Texas guy born and raised, so, he wasn't disappointed that Texas took the Championship. Many people were disappointed that OU got beat out. OU has a young team. They'll have another opportunity.
Beth spent part of the tournament SICK! Ray even took her to ER. They found out that the illness wasn't COVID or the flu or bleeding in the brain. All good to know. But the illness couldn't be tracked down to any specific thing.
Thankfully, Dawn (Ray's daughter, Beth's stepdaughter) stepped right up to cover for Beth! Of course, she had been to the tournament before and knew Beth's general routine. That helped! She just kept things running smoothly. She had some help from her dad (of course), as well as two young ladies helping when they weren't busy doing their jobs. Thank you, Dawn, Mikayla, Grace, and Ray! Beth sure appreciates you!
The mission team from Oh Yeah! Missions have returned from Memphis! They've had a great time ministering to people who have physical AND spiritual needs. They'll have a report for Beth soon!
Bro. Scott Ridgway was on the mission trip, so Bro. Loyd Thompson brought the message on Sunday morning. He read several passages including I John 3:1-10, James 4:17, I Timothy 1:13, Hebrews 10:26, 6:1-6, Isaiah 6:1-7, and Matthew 6:5-14.
James 4:17 says, 'If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them.' We must account for the sins we commit. Sometimes we KNOW better but do whatever we want to do anyway. We must confess these sins and ask forgiveness for them.
In our prayers, we should remember 'ACTS', and pray in this order. A is for Adoration, C is for Confession, T is for Thanksgiving, and S is for Supplication. Thank you, Bro. Loyd, for your message.
Happy Birthday to several people: Alberta, Ann, Ann's granddaughter, McKinsie (not sure about spelling here), and Trysten. Happy Anniversary to Nikki and Jared!
There was lunch after the service, and there were some pretty yummy looking dishes! There are some really good cooks in Stringtown!
Camp is coming up SOON! KBA is next week! And Falls Creek is next month! Kids, remember to get registered for Falls Creek if you haven't already taken care of that. While you PRAY for camp, see if God wants you to help by providing food, supplies, or even money. Contact the church office for information. 580346-7732.
Beth will also have more info about Oh Yeah! Missions Back to School Bash. Remember to gather some back-to-school basics to donate. Remember clothes, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies as well as basic hygiene supplies for both boys and girls.
Remember to pray for those who have needs. (That's the 'Supplication' part of prayer -- after you're right with God!) Remember Helen's family in their loss of a grandson. Patsy is still having some physical issues. Sherry is getting better, as is Debra.
Sherry was missed at church this week. And it was good to see Debra on Sunday. Esther's niece is having surgery. Several of our folks have cancer and some are going through treatments. Some have family in the hospital for various needs. Pray for the family of Gary Hunt. Pray for the ones you know! God knows all of them!
Upcoming Events: June 15th: Father's Day June 16th-20th: KBA June 22nd: Soul Sisters @5:00 pm July 7th-11th: Falls Creek (Forms are available at the church) Because it's Flag Day on June 14th, here's a quote for you from our National Anthem, 'The Star-Spangled Banner': 'O say does that starspangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?' -- Francis Scott Key
