We were really glad in our community to hear that Donna Clay escaped serious injury last week even though her truck was totaled as her vehicle was one of the three vehicles in addition to the patrol vehicle that was hit by the suspect in the pursuit which resulted in an officer involved shooting.
Donna was going to visit her daughter in Atoka when she was caught in the police pursuit last week when the man attempting to elude police ran into her truck. The suspect was later captured in the Stringtown area where he was arrested after he shot at officers.
Clifford and Cathy Watson enjoyed keeping their great grandson, Raynon Hancock last week. Raynon spent the week with his grandparents at Voca while he went to Vacation Bible School. Raynon will be in the fourthgrade next year and attends Comanchee Public Schools. Raynon is the son of Kecia (Ridgeway) Hancock.
I enjoyed attending the 'Women Abide' fellowship at Southside Baptist Church last week. The service was a night of prayer, worship, testimony, food and fellowship for women of all ages throughout the service. I especially enjoyed visiting with Linda Mixon, Jamie Gray and Marla Ingram.
Ruthie Anderson's great grandson, Gavin Lane of Melissa, TX is spending this week at OSU with his granddad, Rick Lane of Marietta at Grandparent University. It is a unique intergenerational 3-Day learning experience for the grandchildren of OSU Alumni.
The summer camp is a 3-day fun-filled experience that actively engages kids in academics at OSU while creating memories for grandparents and their grandchildren.
Well, we hear the Stringtown Volunteer Fire Department had one of the biggest blazes they had ever worked on last week and could be seen for miles around.
They even called out the Daisy Fire Department for additional assistance. After Daisy volunteer fireman, Claudie Self arrived on the scene he realized it was just his former classmate and good friend, known as the 'Legend' Tony Potts celebrating his 66th birthday.
It seems the flames from the many candles got out of control. However, both fire departments wished Tony a Happy Birthday and told him not to use candles next year.
Grandparents Robby and Wendy Isom want to give a Happy Birthday shout out to granddaughter Adalee Isom, who turned 11 years old this week. Everyone enjoyed cake and homemade ice cream.
We want to congratulate Hannah (Bacon) Wood who has taken a teaching position for the 2025-2026 school year at Stringtown Public Schools. Hannah will teach English for 7th-12th Grades.
Please keep Benny Wyrick, Leebert Tramble and Alice Hutson in your thoughts and prayers. They have been in the hospital for the last few days and hopefully will be back home soon.
Also please keep our neighbor and friend Marvin Dale in your thoughts and prayers. Marvin is presently in the hospital with medical issues.
Marvin served as the county commissioner for several years and was a friend to many of us especially in our community. Our Daisy boys especially want to wish Marvin a speedy recovery.
Please keep Rick Akin and Bob Dillard in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with medical issues.
