A fatal single-vehicle collision occurred Wednesday afternoon on US-69 in Atoka County, approximately 5.5 miles east of Wardville. Authorities suspect a medical event led to the crash.
The incident took place at approximately 5:05 PM, 44 feet south of OK131. A 2020 Kenworth W990, driven by 62-year-old Henry Govan of Harrisburg, North Carolina, was traveling southbound on US-69 when he reportedly experienced a sudden medical event.
The commercial vehicle then crossed the median, traversed the northbound lanes, and went through a fence on the east side of the highway before coming to rest in a field.
