Language Barrier Present as Unlicensed Driver Cited

A driver was arrested Monday morning after being stopped for speeding and a defective brake light, and subsequently found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended license and no insurance. A language barrier complicated the interaction with the vehicle's occupants.

At approximately 8:23 AM on June 16, 2025, Recruit Officer Trevin Loudermilk, while on Patrol Training with Officer Zachary Rice of the Atoka Police Department, observed a black Ford Taurus traveling southbound on U.S. 69, entering a 45 mph zone.

The vehicle was confirmed by radar to be traveling at 63 mph, which is 18 mph over the posted limit. Officers also noted that the vehicle's passenger side brake light was nonfunctional when the driver applied the brakes.
