A routine patrol near Highway 69 and Lake Road on June 25, 2025, led to the arrest of a driver for multiple traffic violations.
At approximately 1:25 AM, Officer Drake Smith of the Atoka Police Department observed a black four-door vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Officer Smith paced the vehicle at 82 mph and initiated a traffic stop just north of Lake Road on northbound Highway 69.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver informed Officer Smith that he did not speak English. Using a translation app, Officer Smith requested the driver's license and insurance. The driver advised he did not have a driver's license or a passport, but did provide proof of insurance.
