A driver was arrested in the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, after being observed driving erratically, including traveling in the wrong lane of traffic and at a significantly reduced speed.
At approximately 3:12 AM, Atoka County Deputy Chance Dever was on routine patrol northbound on US Highway 69 when he observed a white pickup truck driving northbound in the southbound lane before correcting back to the northbound lane near US Highway 69 and Dairy Lane. The vehicle was also paced at 12 miles per hour in a posted 55 mph zone. Deputy Dever initiated a traffic stop.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Dever detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver, identified as Mauricio Rosas Ramirez, appeared disoriented, with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. He initially stated he had nothing to drink. When asked to exit the vehicle, Ramirez was unsteady on his feet, stumbling and needing to hold onto the patrol unit's brush guard for balance.
