A registered sex offender, Jim Ray Bayles, was arrested on April 23, 2025, after an investigation revealed he allegedly provided a false address for his registration and was found staying within a restricted safety zone. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
On March 3, 2025, Jim Ray Bayles came to the Atoka County Sheriff's Office to change his registered address to a location on Skyview Road in Atoka County. However, Deputy Jimmy Taylor later attempted to verify this address and was unable to locate a residence or any signs of occupancy.
The area only contained an old barn, and there was no mailbox for the address Bayles had provided, with only one mailbox on Skyview Road located at an intersection. Deputy Taylor had previously informed Bayles that he could not be at an address on North Ohio due to it being within a 500foot safety zone.
