Grandparents Bruce and Meagan Bacon took their grandchildren on vacation last week where they enjoyed riding the historic Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad Steam Train in Chama, New Mexico. Pictured are grandchildren: Jolynn, Davey, Jud, Dane, Dalton, Antonio and grandparents Meagan and Bruce Bacon.

Bruce and Meagan Bacon put the 'Grand' in grandparents this week as they took on the task of taking all their grandchildren on vacation, a feat done only by the brave. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Chama, New Mexico which is located in the Rocky Mountains about 7 miles south of the Colorado-New Mexico border where they rode the historic Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad steam train. The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad is a National Historic Landmark that operates in the scenic landscapes of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. It is the most authentic steam railroad in North America, providing guests with a unique opportunity to experience the old west while traversing through deep canyons, across high trestles, and alongside rivers. Guests also experience zig-zagging along canyon walls, burrowing through two tunnels and steaming over trestles. Those enjoying a nice vacation were son Antonio, grandsons Dalton, Dane, Davey and Jud and granddaughter Jolynn and grandparents Bruce and Meagan Bacon.

Ann Blair enjoyed a nice beach vacation with her daughter and her family and her son. The group enjoyed a few days on the beach in Gulfport, Mississippi. The group all enjoyed the white sands, swimming in the ocean and visiting with each other. The grandchildren also enjoyed a special treat as Ann spent a few days with her daughter Carmen and her family in Palestine, TX after their vacation before returning home to Atoka.

It almost looked like our hay crews were going to finally get to start baling hay this week but it was short lived as the rain came back in. Some had hay on the ground that got wet while others still have parts of their hay meadows under water but we hate to complain about the rain. Ruthie Anderson enjoyed spending a couple of days with her daughter Kenni and her husband Rick in Marietta this past week.
