High-Speed Motorcycle Chase Ends in Crash, Arrest for Multiple Violations

A traffic stop initiated for a motorcycle not displaying eye protection escalated into a high-speed pursuit on July 5, 2025, culminating in a crash and the arrest of the driver for felony eluding and numerous other offenses.

At approximately 5:11 PM, Officer Zachary Rice of the Atoka Police Department observed a man on a black Honda motorcycle exiting a local restaurant parking lot without eye protection, as required by Oklahoma state law. The motorcycle was also displaying an incorrect license plate.

Officer Rice followed the motorcycle as it turned east onto East 13th Street. As the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop at East 13th and Gin Road, the driver, later identified as Matthew Aaron Keeney, looked back, made a wide turn, and then rapidly accelerated, beginning to elude the officer.
