A Missouri woman faces multiple charges, including possession of a controlled dangerous substance and bringing contraband into a penal institution, after a traffic stop in Atoka led to the discovery of drugs and an open container in her U-Haul truck.
At approximately 10:12 PM on July 13, 2025, Patrolman Grady Blackwood of the Atoka Police Department was on routine patrol near S Mississippi Avenue and Lake Road when he observed a southbound UHaul truck fail to dim its headlights for oncoming traffic. Officer Blackwood initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle pulled over near Lake Road on S Mississippi Avenue.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Jazmyn Ahlana Purley of St. Louis, Missouri, Officer Blackwood informed her of the headlight violation. He also detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle and observed ashes near the center console floorboard. Purley denied smoking marijuana recently, and no immediate signs of impairment were noted.
