A traffic stop initiated by Assistant Chief Keith Knoll of the Stringtown Police Department on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, resulted in the arrest of three individuals on various drug charges, including the driver who was also cited for a suspended license.
At approximately 10:15 AM, Assistant Chief Knoll, acting under his crosscommission with the Atoka County Sheriff's Office, observed a black GMC Yukon traveling northbound on US Highway 69 at a high rate of speed. Though the vehicle visibly slowed, radar locked its speed at 87 mph in a 70 mph zone. The vehicle initially changed lanes to avoid the officer, ultimately stopping across from the Mack Alford Correctional facility.
Upon contact with the driver, identified by a Minnesota ID card as Demetrius Bennett, Assistant Chief Knoll detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A check revealed Bennett's driver's license was revoked. Bennett admitted to knowing his license was invalid and that there was marijuana in the vehicle.
